The APSARA National Authority is continuing restoration work on brick tower number 10 and the laterite floor in the southwest section of Pre Rup Temple, following the identification of structural risks at the site.
Mr. So Pot, an archaeologist from the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology, explained that due to the age of the temple, parts of brick tower number 10 have significantly deteriorated. Sections of the brick walls have decayed and lost their original structure, making urgent restoration necessary.
In addition, the laterite floor in several areas—particularly in the southwest section—has been eroded. This deterioration allows rainwater to flow down toward the temple’s foundation, posing potential risks to the stability of the monument.
The restoration and maintenance work is being carried out in accordance with the technical methods and standards established by the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Sites of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk (ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk). The project is implemented by Cambodian experts from the APSARA National Authority.
