The Ad Hoc Expert Group of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Sites of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk (ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk) has commenced inspections of major restoration projects within the Angkor Archaeological Park in preparation for the official opening of the 42nd Technical Session.
The inspection program began on June 1, 2026, with visits to several significant temple restoration sites, including Bakong Temple, Banteay Samre Temple, and Ta Prohm Temple.
During the site visits, experts received detailed presentations from conservation teams regarding the progress of restoration work, technical methodologies, and ongoing challenges. The expert group also provided valuable recommendations and technical guidance aimed at enhancing the quality of conservation efforts and ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.
The findings and recommendations gathered during these inspections will contribute to discussions at the 42nd Technical Session on the Management, Conservation, and Sustainable Development of the Angkor site, scheduled to take place in Siem Reap on June 9–10, 2026.
