From 04 to 12 August 2022, H.E. Dr. HANG Peou, Director General of APSARA National Authority, led the working team to discuss and explain the management of natural resources and communities in the Angkor site with the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand to continue collaborating on a new phase project after Covid-19 crisis. This project is beneficial for helping to manage the ancient irrigation system more effectively to avoid floods in the Siem Reap-Angkor area and take advantage of natural resources to develop communities, capacity building, and human resources.

It should be noted that New Zealand has come to study together with the APSARA National Authority on natural resource management and community development in the Angkor site to support the implementation of a series of projects, divided into three phases:

Phase 1 (2009-2010): A pilot project called “Angkor Participatory Natural Resource Management & Livelihoods” (APNRM & L).

Phase 2 (2011-2013): “Angkor Participatory Natural Resource Management & Livelihoods” (APNRM&L).

Phase 3 (2014-2019): “Angkor Community Heritage and Economic Advancement” (ACHA).
