The APSARA National Authority is enhancing visitor access to the 3rd level of Bayon Temple by installing seven new stairs. This initiative, carried out by the Department of Tourism Development and Culture, aims to provide a safer and more convenient experience for tourists as the temple prepares to reopen.
Mr. Heng Bunnara from the Department highlighted that the new stairs will feature metal and wooden balustrades, addressing the safety concerns posed by the old, deteriorating stairs. The installation of these stairs is part of a broader restoration effort for the temple.
The new stairs are designed to be approximately six meters long and include features to reduce the risk of slipping. Currently, they have been installed in four locations: east, north, and west sides of the temple. The project is expected to be completed by September, aligning with plans to reopen the 3rd level for visitors soon after restoration work is finished.
