The 15-hectare Angkor Botanical Garden, which officially opened in 2022, is now being expanded by the APSARA National Authority from 15 hectares to 150 hectares to serve a more diverse nature tourism sector.
Deputy Director of the Department of Water, Forestry and Infrastructure Management of the APSARA National Authority, Mr. Lay Poti, said that the APSARA National Authority plans to expand the Angkor Botanical Garden from 15 hectares to 150 hectares by building a fence for wildlife release, and forestry protection as well as preparing walkways, and bridges for tourists to walk in the natural forest. In the project to expand the area of Angkor Botanical Garden, APSARA National Authority has installed cement poles and metal mesh for 5468 meters around the forest from Angkor Botanical Garden to the southern moat of Angkor Wat to create a habitat for wildlife species to live in the natural state, where tourists can also see the wildlife directly through the forest walkways.
Meanwhile, the APSARA National Authority calls for the public to stop sharing fake news on social media, which is contrary to the truth of this project, and causes exaggeration of information in a negative sense, affecting the honor of national institutions and efforts to attract tourists to visit Angkor.
