The ad hoc experts from the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Sites of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk are currently conducting an inspection of the temple restoration sites in the Angkor area. This visit aims to review ongoing restoration efforts and assess adherence to previous recommendations made by the committee’s experts.
During their visit, which runs from June 9 to 17, six international experts—including H.E. Dr. Hang Peou, Director General of the APSARA National Authority—are touring various restoration sites. These include significant locations such as Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Phimeanakas, Ta Som, Ta Nei, and Banteay Samre. The experts are engaging with the restoration teams, listening to presentations, and offering further recommendations to enhance the restoration work.
This inspection is a customary procedure preceding the main sessions of the ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk, which occur biannually. The upcoming 40th technical session is scheduled for June 19-20 at the Sofitel Angkor Hotel.
