APSARA National Authority continues to restore the Naga balustrades at the southern ground floor of Angkor Wat
The restoration team from the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of the APSARA National Authority continues to repair the Naga balustrades for nearly 20 meters at the southern ground floor of Angkor Wat.
Archaeologist of the Department of Temple Preservation and Archeology, Mr. Say Sophearin, said that the restoration work has now been completed to strengthen the foundation of the stairs and the foundation of the Naga balustrades, which collapsed due to water flow. At the same time, the team also excavated the ground and restored the ancient water release system to prevent water from seeping through the stone gaps, which further weakened the foundation.
Mr. Sophearin added that after repairing and strengthening the foundation, the team will install the Naga balustrades back.
