Preah Ang Ngok Pagoda

About wat Preah Ang Ngok

The “Preah Ang Ngok” shrine is located a little north of Bayon temple, between Baphuon temple and Bayon temple. According to research, the shrine was built in the late 16th and early 17th century by Burmese monks to worship Buddhism.

Based on some important evidence, researchers agree that the Preah Ang Ngok shrine was built by Burmese monks. Evidence of this is that the twin boundaries around its foundation are larger than the others. On the western twin boundaries, there is an inscription in Burmese and the form of the statue of Preah Ang Ngok is completely different from the Khmer art style because it is slightly bent. Nowadays, this statue is always worshiped daily by guests of all nationalities.
