គម្រោងជួសជុល និងអភិរក្សប្រាសាទមេបុណ្យខាងលិច ដែលស្ថិតនៅក្នុងអាងបារាយណ៍ទឹកថ្លា តាមរយៈកិច្ចសហប្រតិបត្តិការរវាងអាជ្ញាធរជាតិអប្សរា និងស្ថានទូតបារាំងប្រចាំកម្ពុជា កំពុងដំណើរការយ៉ាងសកម្ម និងមមាញឹក។ គម្រោងជួសជុលនេះ ចាប់ផ្តើមតាំងពីឆ្នាំ២០១៨ រហូតមកដល់ពេលនេះ។ បច្ចុប្បន្នមានក្រុមការងារជួសជុលប្រាសាទមេបុណ្យខាងលិច ភាគច្រើនជាអ្នកស្រុកអង្គរ កំពុងតែបំពេញការងារទៅតាមជំនាញរៀងៗខ្លួនជាច្រើនផ្នែក។ ក្នុងនោះ ក៏មានអ្នកជំនាញខាងឆ្លាក់ក្បាច់ចំពោះថ្មថ្មីជំនួសថ្មចាស់តាមទ្រង់ទ្រាយដើម ស្របតាមគណៈកម្មាធិការអនុសាសន៍អាយស៊ីស៊ី-អង្គរ និងសំបូរព្រៃគុក ដោយខិតខំអស់ពីសមត្ថភាពទុកជាកេរដំណែលរយឆ្នាំបន្តទៅមុខទៀត។
លោក ឈឿង ជ័យ អាយុ ៤៨ឆ្នាំ ក្នុងចំណោមអ្នកជំនាញឆ្លាក់ក្បាច់នៅប្រាសាទមេបុណ្យខាងលិច រៀបរាប់ថា លោកបានចូលបម្រើការងារជួសជុលប្រាសាទក្នុងតំបន់អង្គរតាំងពីឆ្នាំ១៩៩៥ ហើយនៅឆ្នាំ២០០០ រៀនជំនាញដាប់ឆ្លាក់លើថ្មថ្មីដែលជំនួសថ្មចាស់ដែលបាត់បង់តាមទ្រង់ទ្រាយដើមឡើងវិញពីអ្នកជំនាញផង និងយកក្បាច់ចម្លាក់ដើមនៅសេសសល់ពីថ្មប្រាសាទជាគំរូផង។ លោក ឈឿង ជ័យ ឱ្យដឹងទៀតថា តាមរយៈបទពិសោធន៍ជាច្រើនឆ្នាំនៃការដាប់ឆ្លាក់នៅតាមការដ្ឋានជួសជុលប្រាសាទនានា លោកបានខិតខំអស់ពីសមត្ថភាពក្នុងការដាប់ឆ្លាក់ក្បាច់តាមទ្រង់ទ្រាយដើមរបស់ប្រាសាទមេបុណ្យខាងលិច ដែលផ្នែកខ្លះថ្មចាស់ត្រូវបានបាត់បង់ដើម្បីទុកជាកេរដំណែលរាប់រយឆ្នាំបន្តទៅមុខទៀត។

The project to restore and preserve the West Mebon Temple, located in the middle of the West Baray, is progressing actively through close cooperation between the APSARA National Authority and the French Embassy in Cambodia. Launched in 2018, the restoration project has engaged a dedicated team of specialists—many of them Angkor residents—who work across different fields of conservation. Among them are stone carvers who carefully craft replacement stones modeled on the temple’s original forms, following recommendations from ICC-Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk experts, to ensure the monument endures for generations.
Mr. Chheung Chey, 48, one of the master carvers at the site, has worked on temple restoration in Angkor since 1995. In 2000, he learned the art of carving replacement stones from senior experts, using the temple’s surviving carvings as his guide. Drawing from decades of experience, he emphasized that his goal is always to replicate the original style of West Mebon’s lost carvings, leaving behind a legacy that will last for hundreds of years.
Mr. Ham Han, 29, a carving expert from Artisans Angkor, joined the West Mebon restoration team in 2019. He explained that working on this temple has given him deep knowledge of its diverse carving styles, as every section of the monument contains unique details. For him, contributing to the restoration of an ancient temple he has long admired is both an honor and a source of pride.
Built in the mid-11th century during the reign of King Udayadityavarman II, West Mebon Temple was dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Located at the heart of the vast West Baray, the temple has suffered deterioration over centuries due to age and natural forces. Today, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Cambodian conservationists and their French partners, the restoration of West Mebon is well underway. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
