The restoration efforts by the experts from the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of the APSARA National Authority are crucial for preserving the historical and architectural integrity of Angkor Wat. The damage caused by rainfall highlights the importance of ongoing maintenance and restoration work to ensure the longevity of these ancient structures.

The meticulous process described by archaeologist Soy Sophearin demonstrates the level of care and expertise involved in the restoration work. The lifting, cleaning, and strengthening of the Naga balustrades and pedestals require a deep understanding of both the materials used and the historical significance of these elements within Angkor Wat.

It should be noted that APSARA National Authority has just restored the Naga balustrade on the ground floor on the east side at the end of 2023.
