The APSARA National Authority is working in partnership with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to restore the third gallery on the west side of Ta Prohm Temple, which is at risk of collapse and requires urgent repairs.
Chitranjan Kumar, who heads the Ta Prohm Temple Restoration Site for ASI, announced that the third phase of this cooperative project is set to commence in January 2025, with an anticipated completion by the end of that year.
Kumar outlined the initial steps of the restoration process, which will include excavations to assess the temple’s foundation condition, cataloging scattered stones, dismantling damaged sections, and identifying severely compromised areas on the south, north, and west sides of the gallery. The project will focus on repairing and reinforcing the foundation, restoring broken stones, and ultimately reassembling them in their original positions.
