Although cloudy skies prevented visitors from fully witnessing the sunrise alignment over the central tower of Angkor Wat on the first morning of this rainy-season equinox, large numbers of citizens and tourists still gathered at the temple to experience this remarkable phenomenon.
On the morning of September 21, the first day of the three-day equinox period, many visitors arrived early and gathered around Angkor Wat, particularly along the inner causeway, eagerly awaiting the sunrise.
However, heavy cloud cover obscured the sun and prevented the anticipated spectacular view. Undeterred, many visitors plan to return on September 22 and 23, hoping for clearer skies and the opportunity to witness the sun rising in alignment with the central tower of Angkor Wat.
