The conservation and restoration project of the former Royal Palace in Angkor Thom is being carried out through cooperation between the APSARA National Authority and the China Academy of Cultural Heritage.
On June 11, 2026, H.E. Dr. Hang Peou, Director General of the APSARA National Authority, met with Mr. Huang Xiaofan, Deputy Director General of the China Academy of Cultural Heritage, at the restoration site of the former Royal Palace in Angkor Thom. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Generals, department directors, technical officers, and members of the Chinese project team.
During the discussion, both parties reviewed the progress of the restoration project and focused on the implementation of recommendations made by the Ad Hoc Experts of the ICC-Angkor/Sambor Prei Kuk during its 42nd Technical Session. The discussions aimed to ensure the effective execution of conservation and restoration activities and to achieve positive outcomes for the restoration of the former Royal Palace.
