Tourists Flock to Angkor Wat for Breathtaking Sunrise

From September 21 to 23, 2023, a remarkable number of national and international tourists gathered early each morning to witness the stunning sunrise at Angkor Wat.

Venerable Song Piseth from Wat Damnak in Siem Reap noted that this was only his second experience watching the sunrise at the iconic temple. Despite the challenging weather conditions, he highlighted the event’s significance, which attracted thousands of visitors eager to explore Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples.

Among the attendees was 77-year-old Mam Vat from Pursat province, who shared that this was her fifth visit to the sunrise event. She brought along relatives and friends to experience the beauty of Angkor Wat. Mam Vat expressed her admiration for the craftsmanship of the Khmer ancestors who constructed Angkor Wat and other ancient temples in Siem Reap, emphasizing her determination to attend despite the unfavorable weather.

During the three-day event, nearly 40,000 tourists visited Angkor Wat to enjoy the breathtaking sunrise, showcasing the enduring allure of this historic site.
