អ្នកជំនាញអភិរក្សថ្មរបស់នាយកដ្ឋានអភិរក្ស និងបុរាណវិទ្យា នៃអាជ្ញាធរជាតិអប្សរា បានរៀបចំជួសជុលចម្រឹងបង្អួចចំនួន២ ដែលប្រឈមនិងហានិភ័យខ្ពស់ ឱ្យរឹងមាំឡើងវិញ។ ចម្រឹងបង្អួចទាំង២នោះ មួយនៅរួតព្រះពាន់ ផ្នែកខាងក្រៅនាទិសឦសាន បានបាក់ជាពីរកំណាត់ និងមួយទៀត នៅខ្លោងទ្វារចូលខាងមុខប្រាសាទអង្គរ ចំណុចផ្លូវដំរីទិសខាងជើង ដែលបាក់ជាបួនកំណាត់ និងមានស្នាមប្រេះដោយអន្លើ ថែមទាំងបែកមួយចំហៀងនៃសាច់ថ្មរបស់ចម្រឹងបង្អួច។

អ្នកជំនាញអភិរក្សថ្មនៅប្រាសាទអង្គរវត្ត លោក សយ សុភារិន្ទ មានប្រសាសន៍ថា ក្រោយពីពិនិត្យឃើញថា ស្ថានភាពចម្រឹងបង្អួចទាំងនោះ មានសភាពទ្រុឌទ្រោមខ្លាំង និងមិនមានលំនឹង ក្រុមការងារក៏បានចាត់វិធានការសង្គ្រោះបឋម ដោយចងក្រៀកជាមួយនិងឈើទប់លំនឹង ជាបណ្តោះអាសន្នដើម្បីកុំឱ្យធ្លាក់ នៅមុនពេលជួសជុល។ លោក សយ សុភារិន្ទ បន្តថា ចម្រឹងបង្អួចទី១ ដែលនៅខ្លោងទ្វារចូល នៅចំណុចផ្លូវដំរីមានគុណភាពល្អ គ្រាន់តែបាក់មួយកំណាត់ផ្នែកគល់ ទាមទារការជួសជុល និងព្យាបាលតាមដំណាក់ដូចជា សម្អាតស្ងួត សម្អាតសើម ដកជាតិអំបិល តភ្ជាប់ដោយដាក់ស្នូល និងបិតកាវភ្ជាប់សាច់ថ្ម បិតកំបោរបាយអ តាមមុខដំណរការពារដើម្បីកុំឱ្យជ្រាបទឹក និងបន្ថែមថ្មថ្មីតាមកន្លែងដែលបាត់សាច់ថ្ម ដើម្បីជួយទ្រតួចម្រឹងទាំងមូលឡើងវិញ។ រីឯចម្រឹងបង្អួចទី២ ដែលយកមកពីផ្នែកខាងក្រៅជ្រុងឦសាននៃថែវទី២វិញ មានសភាពទ្រុឌទ្រោម និងចុះខ្សោយខ្លាំង ដោយសារតែបាត់ថ្មមួយចំហៀង ធ្វើឱ្យក្រុមការងារព្យាយាមជួសជុលពង្រឹងង ព្យាបាលតភ្ជាប់ និងបន្ថែមថ្មថ្មីត្រង់កន្លែង ដែលបាត់ ដើម្បីឱ្យរឹងមាំនិងមានលំនឹងដូចដើមឡើងវិញ។

Stone conservation experts from the Department of Conservation and Archeology of the APSARA National Authority have repaired two window pillars. One window pillar on the northeast side of the Preah Poan gallery was broken in two, and the other at the front gate of Angkor Wat, at the northern point of the Elephant Road, was broken into four parts and cracked.

Stone conservation expert at the Angkor Wat temple, Soy Sophearin, said that after seeing that the condition of the windows was dilapidated and unstable, the team also took first aid measures by tying them with temporary stabilizers before the repair. Mr. Soy Sophearin said that the window pillar at the northern point of Elephant Road is good quality, only a part of the base is broken, it needs to be repaired and treated in stages, such as dry cleaning, wet cleaning, salt removal, connecting the core and gluing. Lime mortar is used to prevent water from seeping in, and new stones are added where the stone is missing to help restore the whole structure. The other window pillar, taken from the northeast corner of the second gallery, was dilapidated and severely damaged due to the loss of one stone, prompting the team to repair, strengthen, treat, connect, and add new stone to make it strong and stable again.

Damage to both window pillars is caused by the age of the stone, hot and humid weather, especially moisture, which causes water to seep through the stone seams or cracks in the stone, causing the stone to decompose. Mr. Soy Sophearin urges national and international tourists who visit Angkor Wat to avoid clinging to the window pillars because they are not strong and are just ornaments.
