Villagers live in the Angkor area, such as Bangkong village of Ampil commune, Samrong village of Leang Dai commune, Kravan village of Nokor Thom commune, Krasaing Romleung village of Siem Reap commune, etc. continue to celebrate this ancient tradition.
The Lerng Meak Ceremony is usually held after the end of the rice harvest season to prepare for the new planting season, to bring prosperity to the whole village, to make the rice fields more productive, and to avoid various diseases. The villagers who took part in the ceremony brought food, rice, soup, drinks, fruits, etc. to offer at their local spirit shrine. Indispensable is the noodles. There are also rice cakes, candles, incense, cigarettes, and clothes.
In some areas, such as Kok Ta Reach, traditional music and songs are performed. Still, in other areas, such as Samrong village, the villagers prepare small meals in small trays and offer them in front of the Neak Ta hut without any accompaniment.
