National tourists and tour operators who bring their vehicles to park in the parking prepared and facilitated public order in the Angkor area, especially to avoid congestion and accidents on the road.
Ms. Chan Udom Panha, Team Leader of the Angkor Thom public order team, said that every day, the core task of the public order team is to park tuk-tuks and motorbikes in the parking and organize sales nearby. The team still faces some problems because some bus drivers do not cooperate after dropping the guests off at the temple and they do not bring vehicles to park in the parking. Some drivers park on public roads. On the other hand, when they see visitors leaving to visit the temple, they are not allowed to walk to the parking to continue their journey, but instead drive to pick up the guests in front of the temple. This is the reason that can cause accidents and congestion, affecting other guests traveling on the road. Despite repeated instructions in the past, this problem still occurs almost daily.
Ms. Chan Udom Panha confirmed that every temple location in the Angkor site always has parking for tourists or carriers to park there free of charge. Angkor Thom has three parking areas, including one east of Bayon temple and west of the temple and another parking near Preah Pithu temple, which is a large parking that can accommodate most vehicles.
In this regard, the APSARA National Authority calls on the general public to participate in what the public order team or the tourism agent team at the temple advised or to park vehicles in the parking to avoid parking on the streets that affect public order.
