Experts from the APSARA National and India worked together to put maintained support to the west gate of Ta Prohm temple, which tore the beams in the middle, which could be at risk. For more than two weeks, the west gate of Ta Prohm has been temporarily closed for the safety of tourists.

Sing Sood, Head of the India-Cambodia Cooperation Project for the Conservation and Restoration of Ta Prohm, said that at the last session of ICC-Angkor experts at the end of 2022, we got the recommendation to put maintained support to the west gate of Ta Prohm. The team uses three stainless steel rods to stabilize the beam.

Mr. Sing Sood added that at present, the west gate of Ta Prohm is due to the age of the construction, the beams are torn, the foundation of the gate has collapsed and the four Brahma faces at the top have been torn off. In this case, the experts used a cable to prevent the stones from falling by any means. After this work is completed, the team will monitor the condition of the gate before deciding to reopen it for tourists to access.

During the resistance work, the team set up a temporary ladder to cross the laterite wall so that tourists could temporarily enter and replace the closed gate for a while. The experts also asked for understanding and tolerance from the public, all national and international tourists who visited Ta Prohm.
