APSARA National Authority cooperates with Indian experts to restore the sandstone floor in the central tower of Ta Prohm temple, the restoration work began on 21 January 2023 and is scheduled to finish in late February 2023.

Head of the India-Cambodia Cooperation Project for the Conservation and Restoration of Ta Prohm, Mr. Sing Sood, said that the floor of the site was cracked and moved from the original position. In addition, There were roof stones of the towel, which also fell and were scattered with pedestals. He continued that in the past, to facilitate the visit of tourists, APSARA National Authority has moved this pedestal to a safe location and used the wooden floor at that location for visitors to pass. But until now, the wooden floor has decayed, so to keep the tourists safe and enhance the value of this location, the two institutions decided to restore the sandstone floor.

Mr. Sing Sood added that the team first excavated this site to find the original stones, study their original location, and restore them. He said that after the sandstone floor has been restored, the pedestal will be brought back to this location, and tourists will be able to walk through safely and find out more about the original condition of the central tower of Ta Prohm because this location is famous and every day, national and international tourists like to visit here.

Mr. Sing Sood stated that the central tower of Ta Prohm has a special feature of the remaining plaster mortar to this day, which Mr. Sing Sood concluded that during the construction of the central tower could be covered with gold or silver.
