In the third week of October 2024, the community team conducted inspections of ongoing construction and repairs in the Angkor site, following permissions granted to residents for renovations. Long-term inhabitants of Angkor have been authorized to undertake building projects that adhere to legal guidelines and involve minor repairs, overseen by a dedicated community working group.
The Department of Land Management, Urban Heritage, and Community of APSARA National Authority is providing regular inspections and technical support at no cost until all constructions are fully completed.
During this inspection period, officials evaluated a total of 104 permitted constructions, which included:
- Siem Reap City: 25 cases
- Banteay Srei District: 30 cases
- Puok District: 23 cases
- Angkor Thom District: 24 cases
- Run Ta Ek Techo Sen City: 2 cases
Out of these, 84 constructions are progressing well, while 20 have not yet commenced repairs. Among the 84 ongoing projects, 17 have reached completion, and 6 are unfinished but have exceeded their permit duration.
The technical team will maintain oversight of all construction and repair activities until permits expire and projects reach full completion.
