On 06 September 2024, students from Hun Sen Prasat Bakong High School embarked on an educational visit to the Preah Norodom Sihanouk-Angkor Museum. This initiative, organized by the APSARA National Authority, aimed to enrich students’ understanding of their cultural heritage after months of classroom learning focused on heritage education.
The visit is part of a broader effort to prepare students for historical research as they transition to higher education. Given that many students reside near significant heritage sites, it is essential for them to grasp the cultural values and national heritage that they will be responsible for preserving in the future.
This marks the second field trip for these students; their first visit was to the excavation site at Phnom Bok. The APSARA National Authority plans to facilitate additional visits to various ancient temples within the Angkor region, further enhancing students’ engagement with their cultural heritage.
Every year, APSARA collaborates with the Cultural Heritage Organization and local authorities to conduct a Heritage Education Program. This initiative is crucial for residents of heritage areas, particularly the younger generation, as it fosters an appreciation for cultural heritage and equips them with knowledge about its protection and management. The program aims to inspire students to become active guardians of their community’s heritage.
