The restoration team of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of the APSARA National Authority continues to restore the foundations and other structures of the brick temple in the southeast of Bakong Temple, which was severely damaged to avoid the risks.

Archaeologist and head of the Rolous conservation site of the APSARA National Authority, Mr. Saray Kimhuol, said that the brick temple is now at high risk, with the foundation in the southeast corner torn and the wall surface cracked in four or five spots.

Mr. Kimhuol added that at this stage, the team reinforced the torn foundation by laying bricks in the decayed area to withstand the pressure of the wall. The cracked wall uses a metal ring to help prevent the pressure of the wall from falling again. In addition, the team closed the cracks in the walls and strengthened many other structures at the top of the temple, which is in a very fragile condition.
