APSARA National Authority restores the Eastern Entrance of Angkor Wat
The Department of Monuments and Archaeology Conservation of the APSARA National Authority starts to restore the Eastern Entrance of Angkor Wat, which was damaged due to age, weathering, and vegetation.
Ms. Phin Vicheasachara, the archaeologist in charge of the restoration work, said that although the Eastern Entrance of Angkor Wat was slightly damaged in some parts, such as the stairs, the roof, and the pediment, maintenance work is needed to avoid the serious damage in the future. The team needs to study the layout of the entrance and allocate the stones. Then the team is going to clean all the stones and reassemble them in their original place.
The restoration of the Eastern Entrance of Angkor Wat starts from 18 October 2021.
