In the afternoon of June 30, 2017, APSARA and Siem Reap Authority hold a detailed discussion on establishment a committee to demolish the illegal constructions in Angkor, which is presided over by H. E. Mr. Hang Peou, Deputy Director General of APSARA Authority and H.E. Mr. Ly Samrith, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province.
Stone conservation group, which have been trained by experts from Germany and directly led by Mr. Long Nary, a technical officer of Department of Conservation of Monuments in Angkor Park and Archaeological Prevention, are continuing their work on restoration of stones and sculptures in Angkor site. This stone conservation group are divided into small groups to repair the damaged stone or sculpture.
Illegal constructions, which were built in the protected area of Angkor in the last period, will be demolished under the cooperation between APSARA and Siem Reap Authority at all levels. This is the commitment of government to safeguard the World Heritage Site of Angkor, which is at risk from the growth of these illegal constructions.
