During the first 6 months of 2017, APSARA Authority has planted and distributed 12,636 seedlings to the relevant institutions, especially those in the area of Angkor. This number has increased dramatically compared to the same period in 2016, which APSARA planted and distributed only 4,437 seedlings to related institutions. By 2016, APSARA planted totally 60,444 trees in the region of Angkor.
However, Mr. Nin Chansamean, Director of Department of Forestry Management Cultural Landscapes and Environment, said that the tree planting project in 2017 would not be as many as in 2016 because a lot of trees, which we have planted, were dead due to lack of care. He added that according to the project, our team will plant the trees as many as possible in this rainy season and try to focus on quality of planting rather than a large amount of planting.
According to the report for 6 months of 2017, APSARA does not only plant more trees, but also treats more than 548 trees in Angkor as well as inspecting 98 large trees, which has been treated in the area of Ta Prohm temple.
