Angkor is the living heritage of humanity, which there are not only ancient monuments and beautiful nature, but also local people, who are living and keep old tradition up to now. Besides doing farming, Angkor villagers are also involving in conservative Angkor Heritage by working as restoring workers, tourist agents, and forestry protection agents around Angkor.
Mr. Chhinh Douy is one of Angkor villagers, who has been working as a restoring worker almost his lifetime and today he is working for JASA in the construction site of Bayon temple. He said that he is 70 years old but he still loves restoring work at the temple. He added that the construction site at the temple is a place as same as his home because he has been working in restoring temple since he was about 17 years old and now he also has six children and one grandchild, who are working at the construction site with him as well.
Besides Mr. Chhinh Douy and his family, there are thousands of other Angkor villagers, who have the jobs related to heritage conservation of Angkor as well as preserving ancient traditions in the areas, which are less attention or abandoned.
